Limitations of AI Assistant
The AI Assistant is a powerful tool designed to simplify access to technical documentation and streamline image discovery and tasking workflows. However, it has a few limitations you should be aware of.
These limitations help set realistic expectations and ensure users can make informed decisions or seek assistance when needed.
Session Behavior
No session memory: Each chat session is stateless and independent. If you click New Chat, your current session will be permanently cleared.
Real-Time Data
No real-time data: The AI Assistant is trained on internal tools and documentation as of October 2023. It does NOT have access to live or continuously updated external datasets.
Support for Use Cases
Optimized for well-established use cases: The AI Assistant performs best when addressing some common remote sensing scenarios such as Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) analysis or change detection.
For more specialized or uncommon use cases — such as road integrity assessment or other niche workflows — the AI Assistant may generate inaccurate or incomplete suggestions. If your use case is unique or business-critical, it is recommend reaching out to the Technical Support Team for further assistance.
Vendor Availability
While access to satellite imagery from vendors like Maxar, Airbus, Sentinel, or BlackSky is subject to several restrictions, the overall vendor availability may depend the following:
-
Vendor’s Country of Origin: Export control laws (e.g., ITAR, EU regulations) may restrict which users or regions can access imagery.
-
Client Organization's Country of Registration: Vendors may restrict access to organizations based in sanctioned or high-risk nations.
-
Tenant Location: If the platform tenant is hosted in a sensitive jurisdiction some vendor-specific restrictions may apply.
-
Area of Interest (AOI): Imagery over certain regions (e.g., military zones, embargoed countries) may be restricted or censored or unavailable.
-
Imagery Type & Resolution: High-resolution or tasked imagery typically has more restrictive licensing compared to standard archive imagery.
-
Intended Use Case: Some vendors restrict access to imagery based on its intended use. Applications involving defense, intelligence, or security-related analysis may not be supported under standard licensing agreements — even when initiated by non-government or commercial users.
-
Sensor Type (Optical/SAR/IR): Certain sensor data (e.g., SAR, thermal) may require additional vetting depending on sensitivity.
-
Cloud Hosting & Data Sovereignty: Some vendors require imagery to be stored or processed in specific cloud regions or territories.
In the latest release, not all vendors are connected to the AI Assistant. Integrations are being rolled out in phases, and new vendor support will be added through ongoing updates.
Permissions and Access Control
Role-based restrictions: Only users with appropriate privileges can place imagery orders via the AI Assistant.
If you don’t see order options or receive restricted responses, contact your System Administrator.
Language and Accessibility
-
Language support: The AI Assistant currently supports only English.
-
Accessibility: The AI Assistant is optimized for keyboard and screen reader users. Voice input is not supported at this time.
Troubleshooting
What if I don’t see any image results?
- Check if the sensor, cloud coverage, or incidence angle values too restrictive?
- Verify if your WKT format valid?
- Check if the date range correct and within the vendor's archive availability?
- Try relaxing the filters or adjusting the AOI.
What happens if I click "New Chat" by mistake?
Clicking New Chat clears the session. All current progress, such as cart selections, will be lost. You must re-enter your request.
How do I enter WKT format for my AOI?
The AI Assistant accepts WKT strings like:"POLYGON ((54.79481 24.512549, 54.795339 24.549484, ..., 54.79481 24.512549))"
